ST AUGUSTINE INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY(SAIU)
BACKGROUND
SAIU was started to provide quality education to students, education that would be comparable to what other universities internationally offer. Education that would turn the students into ethical individuals who not only seek employment but create jobs. St. Augustine International University was founded to advance the cause of learning and research and take its place among the great universities of the world. SAIU was started by a group of like minded individuals who have a passion for delivering quality higher education in Uganda and together constitute the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees are very central to the health and welfare of the University. They ensure that the University is capable of accomplishing its mission and vision for current and future generations. SAIU is structured into four colleges, each of which is divided into a number of schools and departments. The five colleges are Law and Business, Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, Engineering and Information Sciences and finally Health, Medical and Life Sciences. This college structure enables interdisciplinary collaboration since there are fewer administrative boundaries between disciplines and operational relationships in curricula, teaching and learning, and research.
CAMPUSES
Bunga Campus
The main Campus is located on Bunga Hill, seven kilometres from Kampala city centre along the Kampala, Ggaba-Munyonyo road. The Bunga Campus is endowed with spacious, vast compound lawns and wide tree cover that provide an airy tropical ambiance for the SAIU Community. It is within easy reach of Lake Victoria, the second widest fresh water body in the world.
Mulago Campus
The Mulago Campus is located at the top of Mulago hill, a five minute drive from Kampala city. It has a high-rise building with scenic views of the capital city. The campus is close to Mulago National Referral Hospital, a strategic position for collaboration in Health, Medicine & Life Sciences.
Kisoro Campus
Kisoro Campus is located in Kisoro District, south western Uganda, 500 kilometres from the capital city Kampala. It is strategically located for easy access from Rwanda, Burundi, Democratic Republic Congo, and Tanzania. It has facilities in Kisoro town near St. Francis Mutolere hospital that will be used for practicum by students. It is within the tourist corridor of Mugahinga and Bwindi National Parks where the famous mountain gorillas reside.
Namugongo Campus
Namugongo campus, close to the Uganda Martyrs Shrines, Namugongo, where the agricultural farm is established has rivers flowing through the farm, which will enhance the irrigation projects. It is 10 Kilometres from Kampala city centre and will cater for practicals for College of Agriculture. It is where the future expansion of the University will take place.
