• Write down the key issues in Making right investment to support digital learning and teaching in your district.

  Reference is made to Luuka District, Eastern Uganda.

  1. Mindset. The issue of mindset is a key in supporting digital teaching and learning. There is need for teachers and key policy makers in the education sector to have the right mindset towards the success of digital learning. Once these have the right thinking towards adopting digital learning and teaching, it is easy for the learners and parents to embrace the change.

  2. Computer Literacy. Equipping teachers and learners with digital literacy skills for example knowing how to use computers, mobile phones to develop, access and deliver learning materials is another important aspect to look at. With these skills, teachers can use digital tools to develop multimedia learning content to cater for all types of learners.

  3. Power/Electricity. For digital learning and teaching to succeed, there is need for availability of reliable electricity to power the digital gadgets used by both learners and teachers.

  4. Internet access. Internet should be readily available for easy access by teachers and learners. It should also be cheap so that schools, learners and teachers can afford it. This will prompt teachers to improve their academic materials by carrying out research on the internet.

  5. Digital Learning Gadgets. It is idea to avail digital learning gadgets like computers, tablet computers, phones among others to schools, teachers and learners to aid and simplify digital teaching and learning.

  6. Digital Pedagogy training for teachers.Teachers need a refresher course in digital pedagogy to be able to deliver well in digital teaching and learning. This course will empower teachers in having the right mindset needed to embrace digital teaching and learning. It will also enlighten them on how to develop the most appropriate learning activities for their learners.

  7. Motivation of teachers. There is great need to facilitate and motivate teachers well in terms of salary enhancements, housing allowances, health insurance among other things for them to deliver and embrace digital teaching and learning.

  8. The ministry of education through the relevant government bodies in charge of teachers training institutions should include digital pedagogy course as one of the modules taught at teachers colleges in Uganda. This will enable the production of teachers with digital skills necessary for making digital teaching and learning a success.

  9. The government should invest more in digital teaching and learning by equipping schools with computer laboratories connected with faster internet. Government should also invest in cheaper and reliable internet.

• KEY ISSUES IN MAKING THE RIGHT INVESTMENT TO SUPPORT DIGITAL LEARNING

  - The government and leaders in my district need to educate the teachers as they are the basis at which the studets will learn and get intersted in digital learning.

  - The government and leaders in my district need to ensure that the students and teachers have the right gadgets for digital learning and teahing.

  - Internet is not affordable by all the teachers and students in my district so the governmnet and leaders need to ensure that it is provided or made affordable by these people.

  - the government and leaders need to have offline solutions so that the teachers and students can be able to access and work on the content without any troubles wih internet.

  - The government should make accessibility to online learning platforms to the students and teachers so that they can easily work together.
