DP: Digital Pedagogy Assignment8

Read the following text, research online and produce an digital lesson on any topic of your choice using memes.

Memes in E-learning for Millennial Learners

With the advent of social media, information transfer is no longer the same; today an image with dramatic text or funny one liner is all you need to go viral over the Internet. Log in to your Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter or Pinterest account, you will most likely come across a picture with a quote or a famous movie dialogue, which is either funny or sarcastic. These tidbits of information are hugely viral in nature. For those of us who are yet to encounter this phenomenon, a meme is a culture where behavior is passed from one person to another via an image, text or a video, which is copied and spread virally over the Internet.

These short and sweet memes are spread far and wide over the Internet because they strike a chord with everyone. With an increase of the millennial generation (early 1980’s to 2000’s) entering the workforce, training managers find it increasingly difficult to train these new age beings with old school training methods. Today social media dictates the way millennias do things and what better way to use memes in e-learning courses to appeal to the millennial learners!
