ASSIGNMENT

Questions

  1. How do trees clean the environment?
  2. How does planting trees help to reduce global warming?
  3. Why should we plant trees around our homes and school?

How do trees control soil erosion

  1. Qn. What are he advantages of using he sun as an energy resource?
    1. Cannot be exhausted.
    2. Energy resources from the sun do not pollute the environment.
    3. It is freely and readily available.

Qn. What are the disadvantages of using the sun as an energy resource?

    1. Too much sunshine dries water sources.
    2. Too much sunshine dries unready crops in the garden.

Qn.Why is solar electricity said to be environmental friendly?

    1. It does not pollute the environment.
    1. How does drought affect the generation of hydro-electricity?
    • It reduces the water level in the reservoir
    1. How does the use of hydro-electricity conserve trees?
    • It reduces the cutting down of trees for wood fuel.
    1. How is tidal energy generated?
    • From rising and falling levels of water.
    1. How are hot springs used as energy resources?
    • They are used to generate geo-thermal electricity
    1. Why is tidal energy not used in a country like uganda?
    • It is expensive to generate.

Uses of rocks as energy resources

    • Rocks provide geothermal energy form their hot springs.
    • When underground water gets heated by hot underlying rocks, it rises as steam which is used to generate geo – thermal energy.

    Minerals as energy resources

    • Minerals are inorganic substances which exst naturally in the earth’s ground.
    • Uranium and plutonium are the minerals that emt radiations (radioactive elements).
    • These mineals are used to generate nuclear electricity.

Qn. How can uranium and plutonium be used as energy resources?

    1. For generating nuclear electricity.
    2. For making nuclear weapons.
    3. Uranium is used to make fuel for some ships.

    Disadvantages of using nuclear energy.

    1. Its generation is very expensive.
    2. Its generation emits dangerous radiaions in the environment.
