FINDING ROOTS Assignment

1. Find  Newton Rasphson’s iterative formula for finding the cube root of any number N.  Hence use the iterative formula to find the cube root of 64 correct to three decimal places.

2. Given two, iterative formulae I and II (shown below) for calculating the positive root of quadratic equation f(x) = 0 as;

For n = 1, 2, 3…………..

Taking x₀ = 2.5, use each formula thrice to two decimal places to decide which is the more suitable formula. Give a reason for your answer.
