Sample Activity of Integration – Computer Hardware and system startup

Context 1

Mereketey Secondary School is planning to have a careers day to sensitise $1 students about the importance of vocational subjects. The 100 students of S1 will assemble in the main hall, which has a power supply. The careers’ teacher will share pictures and videos showing areas where various subjects are applicable. Some students may request some pictures and videos to show to their parents.

Task

Advise the careers teacher about which computer hardware devices will be needed and how they work to support her presentation to the students.

Context 2

Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) is planning to set up a computer centre in your village with 30 networked computers.

Task

You have been asked by the local council to prepare for them a report on what hardware devices they should expect from UCC, and on any other component that would enable the computers to function very well and then explain how each device would be used by the community.
