In the year 2020, some parts of areas in northern, northeastern and eastern Uganda were invaded by desert locusts. The locusts moved in large numbers eating leaves of any green plant that they came across destroying upto 100 tonnes of crop daily.
This lead to severe food shortages in these regions.
