Ginger, also known as Zingiber officinale, is a flowering plant, whose root or rhizome is used as a spice. It can be consumed in many forms, fresh, dried, powdered, and in form of oil and juice. Ginger is a common ingredient in different cuisines.

Ginger can build flavours in drinks, curries, dressings, and soups. It is also used in sweets and alcoholic beverages such as cookies, syrup, beer, and wine. Ginger is a good culinary material. Therefore, it is needed in large quantities. Ginger plants require an average annual rainfall of between 250 and 300 cm for optimal growth and development and require additional irrigation in a dry season.

Within eight to ten months, the ginger plant will be fully grown. The plant can grow up to one metre and a half tall so you should allow some space to accommodate it. However, other ginger flowers are tiny and fleeting. On the other hand, the leafy plant stems often hide the flowers. The flower may last only a couple days, then wilt and dry and very rarely forms seeds.
