Sample activity of integration on LSC S1:Drama: African plays

Uganda has many rich oral traditions, such as telling tales or legends, in which the elders share the many morals and values found in our society. We use riddles and morality tales to educate our young teenagers and guide them to follow the correct paths in life.

  1. In this task, you are going to interview a young teenage boy called Balondemu Mutesi who has written a book using fables and Ugandan folklore as a tool to teach appropriate morals and values to the youth. He wrote the book because he felt that many of the urban youth had lost their
    traditional morals and values.
  2. Write down at least ten questions that you would like to ask Balondemu about his life, why he wrote the book and why he chose folklore as a tool to spread morals and values in modern society.
The questions should be short and to the point, allowing Balondemu to provide the appropriate response, aimed at the youth.
