Sample Activity of integration
The new Kenyan railway project from Mombasa to Nairobi was financed by the Chinese Government. The Chinese companies and banks designed, procured equipment, did construction, financed, supervised, carried out operation and maintenance of the railway project until completion in East Africa. Chinese
companies are deeply involved in the real estate development, infrastructure development, logistics, industrial parks, factory construction, designing and consultation, industry and mining, and international trade, as well as hotels and tourism.

Chapter Summary
Europeans came to East Africa for a number of reasons such as spreading Christianity, getting raw materials for their industries, and gaining control over the vast East African territory that was known for its rich climate and fertile soils. The colonialists used different methods to gain full control over East Africa. However, much as colonisation brought socio-economic development and civilisation, East Africa lost its resources and independence.
