Context

P & A Secondary School is well built but the compound is not nice-looking. It really looks shabby with no pathways and not even a single flower planted in the compound where there are only trees. As a result, most of the new learners at the school would have wanted to change schools.

You have been consulted by the estates department of P & A Secondary School. Design for them a sketch plan they can follow to beautify with flowers at least the area around the flagpole at the front of the school’s main offices.

3. Part of a rope tied to a tree in a garden is 10.5 metres. A goat pulls the rope tightly and moves to form a circular track.

(a) Find the circumference of the circular track made by the goat as it moves. (b) Calculate the area of the circular track formed.

4. A string is wound 14 times round a drum whose diameter is 30 cm.

(a) Find how long the string is.

(b) Calculate the area of the circular face of the drum.
