A group of 20 lecturers of Journalism & Communication underwent a 3 day training (October 26th-29th 2020) in Multimedia storytelling and digital skills at CIS Suites in Jinja. The training was conducted by the team at Ultimate Media Consult and supported by the U.S Mission Uganda.
Presentations of Multimedia Content development
The three day training was aimed at empowering Journalism lecturers in Uganda to offer quality multimedia journalism and digital communication. The multimedia online course developed provided participants with self paced study of the different topics before and after the training as the three days focused on demonstration of learning and practical session in development of multimedia content.
Practical Group Assignments & Presentations
Participants were divided into separate groups to record, edit and publish audio, video, graphics and photos. With the guidance of the trainers, participants presented what they developed to the rest of the members present.
Immersive Storytelling and Virtual Reality
A session on developing virtual reality content was carried out to equip lecturers with skills on how they can immerse their students in places far out of their proximity. This technology will help journalists take consumers around the world in the comfort of their seats.
Awarding of Certificates and Appreciation remarks
At the end of the third day of training, Certificates were handed out to all those who participated and were presided over by Kujawa Tonny the U.S Embassy Uganda Spokesperson, Harriet Ssebanna representing the Makerere University Department Of Journalism & Communication and Gerald Businge the team leader at Ultimate Media Consult.
