CPM: CROP IMPROVEMENT

This unit treats Mendelian laws of inheritance as the foundation for all studies in heredity and genetics. In this unit the objectives of crop improvement in solving complex deficiencies in crop varieties and satisfying the needs of man in terms of food, feed and fiber production where highlighted and discussed. The various methods of crop improvement i.e. selection, introduction and hybridization were described, so also the method of sustainable hybrid seed production.
