MAP SKILLS

 

 

The people living in the area shown on the map extract of Lukaya sheet 79/2, series Y732and edition 3-USD between easting 80 and 88 and northing 82 and 99 have stayed in this area for years. Of recent the water in the drainage feature south west of the area kept reducing, swamps in the north kept on drying among others. People are worried as this may lead to death of animals, drying of crops and death of human beings. The people have no information on what is happening. NEMA officials would want to meet the members of this community to address the situation.

PHOTOGRAPHY SKILLS

Study the photograph below and the text and respond to the tasks that follow.

 

 

Uganda is a region which is blessed with many drainage features such as lakes, swamps, and rivers. Many people living around lakes, rivers and swamps are engaged in the activity of fishing as seen in the photograph. Many people have been attracted to the activity and it is now a source of livelihood to many. If this is to continue over time, fisheries officials say it will be disastrous, but people have continued with the activity. The fisheries officials have tasked you to convene a meeting with your community.

PART 1

 

 

Uganda is a home of many physical features which has made it to be richer than it would have been without. A group of students from one of the countries in East Africa have planned to visit Uganda to study about some of the major physical features. They have no information on these. They have asked               you as one of the Ugandan natives to prepare for them any necessary information before their coming.

Task

Write an essay of about 250 – 300 words to give the students the information they need.

 

 

Item 4

There are many rivers in Uganda of which most of them originate from the mountainous areas. The government of Uganda has kept on advising people to use these very important natural resources to change their lives for better. It is unfortunate that most people have seen these rivers flowing from mountains down to lakes without using them.

In your community, a meeting has been organized to sensitize the communities on these and you are to take part.

Task

Prepare a speech of about 400 words to present at the meeting.

According to the population statistics of Africa 2022 revised by United Nations, Africa’s population was estimated to be 1.4 billion by 2023 and growing at a rate of 3% per year. At this rate, Africa’s population is expected to be 2.5 billion people by 2050. Experts have learned that this will drain resources it nothing is done. The African Union communities have organized an urgent conference to address the concerns of the experts. You have been invited to attend the conference and give an urgent.

The people left behind in villages are wondering why such a high number is leaving their villages.
