Section A (40 Marks)

  1. Add: 145 + 268.

  6. Express 0.45 as a percentage.

  7. Solve for x in the equation: 3x−4=8
  8. Convert 3 hours and 15 minutes to minutes.

      195 minutes.
      Answer: 195.

Section B (60 Marks)

  • A mother is thrice as old as her son, who is K years old. In 2 years’ time, the product of their ages will be 8(K + 38). Find the mother’s current age.
  • Construct an angle of 75° using only a ruler and a pair of compasses.
  • Simplify: 4x−7(3−2x) =13
  • Calculate the volume of a cylinder with a radius of 4 cm and height of 10 cm.
  • Construct a triangle ABC where AB = 8 cm, AC = 5 cm, and angle BAC = 60°.
  • Find the missing angle in a triangle where two angles are 45° and 90°.
  • Draw a perpendicular bisector of a line segment 8 cm long.
  • Solve the equation: 2x+3=4x−5
  • Find the total cost of 6 pens at shs. 150 each and 3 books at shs. 800 each.
  • Shade the region representing A∩B in the Venn diagram.
  • The sum of the angles in a polygon is 540°. Find the number of sides.
  • Solve the inequality and represent it on a number line: −3<2x−1<5
