WILDLIFE CONSERVATION AND TOURISM IN EAST AFRICA
After studying this unit, you will be able to:
 (a) know the meaning of wildlife, national park, game / wildlife reserves, sanctuaries, historic and prehistoric sites.
(b) understand the factors that influence the development of tourism in Uganda and the rest of East Africa
(c) understand that tourism is an important form of trade, the benefits of tourism and its possible benefits to young people.
(d) understand who a tourist is, why they come, and the facilities tourists need.
(e) know the main tourist attractions of East Africa and locations of the main tourist area. use fieldwork to study a tourist attraction or potential tourist attraction in the local area.
(g) guide visitors and tourists around attractions in the local area or any other area
(i) know where most tourists to East Africa come from and reasons for this
(j) Understand why we should preserve wildlife and the challenges facing wildlife in East Africa
(k) appreciate that tourism can have both benefits and problems.
(l) understand the challenges facing tourism in East Africa and the problems which can be brought by tourism.
(m) appreciate the need for conserving wildlife.
(n) appreciate the need for ensuring political stability and security it we are able to develop tourism
(o) appreciate that caring for and preserving resources in the local community are signs of love for one's country.
(p) understand the meaning of domestic tourism.
(q) use simple graphs, charts and flow diagrams to represent statistics about tourism
(r)Â understand that in attracting tourists, we are always competing with other countries.
