ST. LAWRENCE UNIVERSITY
HISTORY
The University was founded in 2006. The University took in the first class of students in September 2007.
St Lawrence University (SLAU) whose main Campus is located at Kabaka’s Lake, next to Rubaga Miracle Center in Rubaga Division, is located 5 minutes from Kampala, the Capital of Uganda. The university opened in September 2007 with 400 students pursing certificate, diploma and degree programs. These programs are offered in faculties and institutes namely: Faculty of Computer and Information Technology, Faculty of Business and Management Studies, Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Education, and Institute of Industrial Art and Design.
To date, the total enrolment of students is over 1000 students of whom 80% either commute from home or stay in the nearby hostels while the rest are staying at the University’s hostels. The university also hosts students for field work and research from Europe and USA. This international atmosphere offers a good study experience to the students and staff as well as an opportunity for a rich cultural exchange.
The campus is strategically positioned in a quiet and organised setting which is ideal for study and reflection. The University has a well stocked Library, a modern computer infrastructure with a fast and reliable internet connection, sports facilities, & spacious lecture theatres. Health care services and banking facilities will be provided in the University soon.
LOCATION
The University campus is located in Mengo, Rubaga Division, in central Kampala, Uganda’s largest city and capital. The university campus sits on 11 acres (0.045 km2) of land and is located near “Kabaka’s Lake“, in Mengo, close to the main Lubiri (Palace of the Kabaka of Buganda), 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) west of the central business district of Kampala.
